January 2022 - Barod

Happy New Year to you all - we’d like to welcome in the new year at Hoogah with you all and to our first charity of the month 2021 - Barod.

Barod are a charity based in South West Wales and offer support to those recovering from substance misuse, they have specialist teams providing services for children and young people and their loved ones. A person’s misuse of drugs or alcohol can have a devastating effect on their family and friends, services otherwise not available are offered through Barod which can offer support and advice to loved ones.

As well as offering one to one support to those seeking immediate help, Barod offer advice and support to professionals who may need assistance in a very specific circumstance that requires specialty attention. They do this by providing training and awareness campaigns and events where the complexity of substance abuse and the most beneficial methods to approaching recovery are shared.

Barod undertakes a range of awareness raising campaigns across all of our areas to help educate and inform service users, partners and the public about important health-related issues.

Some campaigns fit in with larger awareness raising events, such as ‘Alcohol Awareness Week’ or ‘World Aids Day’, others are a response to local trends or issues within a specific region.

For more information about Barod then head to their website to find out more.
